Here’s a tasty drink to enjoy at your next party. The Mojito is a traditional Cuban drink which became popular in the U.S. in the late 1980’s. The only problem with this drink is the amount of time it takes to make 1 drink. I’ve perfected a way to make this by the pitcher. Also crushing the ice in a blender makes it into a Mojito Slush that adds to the already perfect drink! I’ve included links to all the necessary equipment needed to make this wonderful drink.

1 bunch of mint leaves
8 tablespoons turbinado sugar in the raw
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup lime juice

Muddle mint and sugar in the bottom of the pitcher. Add lime juice, lemon juice and rum. Stir to dissolve sugar. Add crushed ice and club soda just before serving.

  1. I’ve always found that the sugar never dissolves properly, and no matter how much you stir it leaves a sandy mess at the bottom of the glass. This less than stellar serving method is standard in my hometown of Montreal, and probably has to do with why the drink isn’t popular. The easy solution is to use what every bar has, or at least should have; Simple Syrup. It’s what they use in most of Europe and Mojitos seem much more popular in central Europe than they are here.
