Monte Cristo
The Monte Cristo sandwich is said to have first been invented around 1910 in a Paris cafe. Its still served as a popular snack throughout Paris and Switzerland in most bars and cafes. It consists of layers of ham, turkey and cheese sandwiched between 3 slices of country French bread. Its then dipped in a French toast batter and grilled on a hot skillet.
